The prophet knew intuitively what needed to happen for the people of Judah to change. He lived at a time when King Josiah was carrying out a reform. But Zephaniah was aware that mere outward change in praise and worship, brought about by the king, would not be enough. More change was needed. A change of heart. Because transformation is a process that begins on the inside.
The following activities can help you improve your own intuition in matters of leadership:
- Work in the areas of your strengths.
Intuition is strongest in the areas where you are especially gifted.
- Explore the possibilities in front of you.
Intuition becomes especially strong when we evaluate the options right in front of us.
- Identify the root causes of the problems you face.
Work at getting past superficial answers and solving the underlying problems.
- Analyze past successes.
Study your successes and consider whether there are patterns that lead to success again and again.
- Listen to your gut.
Effective leaders lead with intuition. They listen to their gut and to their head.
Zephaniah 2:1-3
Seek Ye the LORD
1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger come upon you.
3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.
