The Godfather of Black Music is a 2019 American documentary film by Reginald Hudlin.

The protagonist, Clarence Avant, is little known to the wider public but very famous within the music industry. He starts out as manager to pianist and composer Lalo Schifrin, later founds record labels, and acts as a concert promoter, producer of special events, fundraiser for Democratic politicians, and mentor to several African American leaders. The documentary Godfather of Music portrays the life and work of the American music manager, businessman, and film producer, and is narrated by people who worked with him.
