The statement in Job 13:15 challenges many Christians quite strongly. Yet it forms the foundation for building God's kingdom in the most difficult places on this earth.
Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Statements like this one shake the gates of hell. What can stop a leader who makes such a statement? No pain, no death, no aggravating circumstances.
Why has terrorism become such a huge international problem? Quite simply because the terrorists decided before the attack to give up their lives for their cause. Only because of that are they able to drive an SUV full of explosives into the enemy's headquarters and blow themselves up there.
This is the point Job reached after numerous pieces of bad news. He was ready to give his life for God. Only in this attitude are we truly free. Free from temptation, free from danger, free from pride, free from sin, and free from enticement. When leaders, like the apostle Paul, say that they have already died, then they have reached a point at which God can truly use them.
Galatians 2:19-21
19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
